The Beginning of Forever

July 19, 2012
The best day of my life.
The day Brad and I were sealed for time and all eternity as husband and wife in the Birmingham, Alabama Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.

I woke up early because all of the different emotions racing through my mind. However as I was getting ready I was at such ease. I had people I loved all around me and helping me have the most perfect day. My friend, Angie came over and did my hair. She did such a wonderful job and was such a trooper for doing it 2 days in a row.

Then we all packed into the car and headed to Birmingham. Talk about the longest drive of my life, it's only 2 and 1/2 hours but it felt like forever. Not only was I anxious but I couldn't even fall asleep to help the drive go by a little faster because I was afraid I would mess up my hair.

Once we got to the Temple we got ready to take our pictures. It was so hot outside. I'm talking upper 90's almost in the 100's. I'm in a long wedding dress, and Brad all dressed up in his tux. Man it was hot but the pictures turned out so great, so it was way worth it! I couldn't be more pleased with how our pictures turned out! My uncle did a beautiful job and worked so hard!

After pictures we got to sit in the waiting area for a little bit with our families. It was so great to have so much of my family there to show their love and support for Brad and I as we started this new journey. Then it was time to go and fill out all the paperwork. While in the dressing room the Temple Matron told me I was the calmest bride she had ever seen. Could she not see that I was freaking out inside? Seriously, I'm pretty sure I ran to the ladies room about 4 times in a 20 minute time frame.

Brad and I had the opportunity to sit together for a little bit before the ceremony started. As soon as I sat next to him all my nerves went away. We walked into the ceremony together and were surrounded by our closest loved ones. I was overwhelmed by the spirit and love that I felt throughout the whole thing not only from those who were there but also those who were there in spirit.

I am so grateful to have been married in the Temple. What a HUGE blessing. I love Brad so much and I'm so grateful that through the ordinances in the Temple I can be with him forever, even after death. Not many people can say that. I am so grateful for my parents example and for helping me get there! I was so blessed to have a few friends and lots of relatives take time out of their busy schedules to be all the way in Birmingham just for us! It was a beautiful day and one that I will always remember! :)

Stay tuned for reception day and honeymoon! :)

New Start

First of all welcome to our new blog! I'm so excited to be able to share little pieces of our life as newly weds! I know a bunch of you are waiting to hear about wedding day and honeymoon details but truth is I have to upload all those pictures first, so until then I will keep you entertained with pre-wedding shenanigans, but keep checking back because I promise they will be blogged about! :)

The Wednesday night before we got married, my family threw Afton a baby shower via Skype. After the little party I got blindfolded and put in a car. Now I knew that Shae and Colby had thrown a little something together for my bachelorette party but I honestly had no idea what we were going to do. All I was told was that it would be something I loved.

So after about 10 minutes of driving they finally take me out of the car. I had no idea where I was at. After about 5 minutes my friend Haley shows up and "decorates" me. Then I was led into Long branch restaurant (at the time I had no idea where I was at).

The ladies had planned a karaoke night.  It was such a blast. At first I was really hesitant because I am not one to sing in front of tons of people I don't know. But we rocked out to multiple country artists mixed with some Backstreet Boys, and good ol' Britney Spears. We had the best waiter ever who totally made the night. I am so grateful for all my amazing sister, cousins, and friends. It was such a fun night and I definitely made memories I won't forget. What a wonderful way to end a chapter of my life!
